World Congress of Vine and Wine.

Ensenada, Baja California.

The date of the World Congress of Vine and Wine is approaching!

The World Congress of Vine and Wine is just around the corner, it will take place from October 31 to November 4, 2022 in one of the places where some of the best wines on the entire planet are created: Ensenada , Baja California.

The beautiful port of Baja California will host the 43rd World Congress of Vine and Wine, which, without a doubt, is one of the most important international meetings of the wine industry, since it is not only focused on consumption and enjoyment of different wines, topics related to the science behind the process of creating these drinks and the adjustments that this industry must make to maintain its sustainability in the face of global threats such as climate change are discussed.

Scientific research related to viticulture and wine production is one of the most attractive things of the congress, according to its organizers, 320 projects will be presented orally and 115 scientific papers (investigations): “The most important scientists around the world in terms of winemaking will be here. The Congress is going to be a source of wisdom and projection in the short, medium and long term of where we want to go”.

In addition to these topics, another of the main points that the congress will address is the experience of producers around the world after the outbreak of COVID-19 and everything that the pandemic meant for this industry in all its aspects. The congress will also feature technical visits to the vineyards of Baja California to show the work of Mexican producers in terms of adapting the region’s soils and microclimates for wine production.

According to the organizers of the congress, wine producers and experts from around 48 countries such as France, Spain, Italy, Germany, Uruguay, Chile and Argentina will participate. Hans Backhoff, president of the Mexican Wine Council, in an interview for Food and Travel, spoke about what everyone who attends the congress can expect: “We expect the participation of more than 1,500 people. In addition, there is great expectation to hold a Mexican wine festival since the dates will coincide with the Día de Muertos. For this reason, attendees will be invited to participate in the cultural events that will take place at the same time in the Santo Tomás Cultural Center”.

The World Congress of Vine and Wine will be held at the BajaCenter, a place that will also host musical performances and dance performances, as well as spaces for wine and gastronomy tasting. As a curious fact, this is the second time that this international congress is organized in Mexico; It was held 40 years ago in the country, so it is an unmissable opportunity for all producers, experts and the Mexican public interested in everything that revolves around wine and its creation.
